Tips To Help You Read In The Lockdown
Hello guys!
It's been a while and I hope you've been doing great. I've been doing fine myself.
So today's post is one that I know most of us students can relate to bearing in mind that reading has become a tug of war especially now that we've been home for 3+ months. Those textbooks you took home from school, how many pages have you read?, lol.
So I'll be sharing some tips to aid you read better in this lockdown and I won't bore you with SQ3R (do you still remember?). Let's get right into it.
1. Read the right books
Have you been reading the wrong book?, no. What this means is that you read what interests you.
You're trying to regain the flair you once had for reading so what better way to do that than read what you like?. If you decide to read school books then choose the topics you like and start reading, with time you'll be able to focus on other topics.
2. Read in portions
To be honest, not many of us like voluminous texts, so when we see the number of pages a book has, we panic.
So instead of trying to read large portions of that book, break it up into smaller segments and start. It'll also help you retain information faster.
3. Highlight and annotate important points
When reading, you're bound to come across important information, you should have a pen and paper to take down notes or you could use a highlighter to remind you of these points. Doing this helps you stay focused.
4. Listen to audiobooks
We all want to read but bringing ourselves to sit at a place peering into the pages of a book seems difficult. You can solve this by listening to the audio version of your favorite books.
You can listen in your room, in the car and just anywhere.
It also makes your note taking easier. There are many available apps to help you such as Amazon kindle, Voice aloud reader etc.
5. Set reading goals
Perhaps, the most of all tips given, because all other tips are useless if you don't take action and clear reading goals will help you take action. You'll also be able to monitor your progress to know how far you've gone.
There you have it, I hope these tips will help you achieve your reading goals. Which tip is your favourite, do let me know in the comments.
Cheers!!
